Bagley Gold 3-Section Pen

Bagley Gold Double-Extension Pen/Pencil Case

The Albert G. Bagley Patents for Extension Pen / Pencil Cases, the first awarded  by the US Patent Office in 1846, are cited in 21st century patents. The depicted high carat gold pen/pencil holder top contains a mounted goldstone.

The Gold Pen nib mounted on this item is an early  Warren, Potsdamer & Co. ink reservoir equipped model.

Goldstone Capstone

The earliest evidence of goldstone is an amulet found in Iran, dating back to the 12th or 13th century. The process involves carefully dissolving copper oxide in molten glass and then cooling the mixture slowly to allow the copper crystals to form.

More recently, the Miotti family in Venice, Italy, was granted a license to produce this glass in the 17th century. This modern, widespread production is often linked to an earlier, similar Venetian invention called "aventurine glass”.

Bagley 3-Secton Pen / Pencil Case

As you browse the succeeding photographs of the pen/pencil combination  holder bear in mind that this item is 8” (20 cm) in length with 3 sections fully extended with Gold Pen nib deployed for writing.

Elaborately Engraved

This item tests consistently with a KEE Gold/Platinum test instrument for 22k gold content. The Bagley factory accepted orders worldwide for extension cases and while most were sliver two-section, less than 1% were gold 3-section extension pen holders.
