Mabie No. 8 mounted on Mabie 1877 patent pen holder compared to (mid) Foley 16 Express Pen 1864, and Eugene L. Tarbox, Nashville Gold Pen nibs.
Mabie, Tood & Co. “Swan” No 3 . Both pen bodies are marked and the silver pen body is hallmarked Birmingham with the makers mark for Edward Baker. This is not a refitted/re-purposed pen body. It was likely an early prototype or small quantities were produced.
Mabie, Todd & Co. New York Gold Pen nibs such as depicted in a Mabie, Todd & Bard from 93 Cheapside, London, wood case were in demand.
The depicted Needle Point Mabie, Todd & Co Gold Pen nibs are circa 1880s vintage, of heavier than usual gold.
'Jewellers, 35 Alfred Place West, Child & Child, Queen's Gate, Gold and Silversmiths', circa 1880, by Child and Child who were specialist art jewellers.
The firm was patronized by artists from the Pre-Raphaelite circle and members of the Royal family including British Queen Victoria, Queen Mary of Scotland, and Alexandra, Empress of Russia.
